Suitable for all types of seeds or cuttings, but especially plants with deep root systems like beans and sweet peas, these Deep Root Plant Cells will encourage healthy root growth.

Supplied in sets of 28, 1½ inches (4cm) square cells joined in rows of four. These reusable cells have a unique ‘spilt’ design to enables you to easily inspect root growth as well as allow easy transplanting when your plants have grown large enough.

These sturdy cells are strong enough to stand unsupported, so can be used directly on your greenhouse benching or shelving. Or for easier handling, are also available in a ‘Deep Root Success Kit’ which includes both a watertight base and clear cover.

Easy Maintenance And Transplanting – due to the ‘split’ design of these cells you can monitor root growth easily – simply ‘open’ the cell to view inside. This also means when it comes to transplanting time you can ‘open’ the cell and remove the plant without disturbing the root structure, enabling your plants to continue to grow undisturbed in their new location.

Encourages Growth Of Deep Roof Structures – these 4¾ inches (12cm) tall cells have internal ridged sides that will encourage healthy downward root development.

Excellent Drainage – each cell features a central drainage hole as well as drainage also being possible through the four ventilation slots on the sides of the cells.

Enables Air Pruning To Occur – by incorporating a large hole at the base and ventilation slots on the sides of each cell, this enables the beneficial process of ‘air pruning’ to take place. This is when the roots of the plants reach the air they naturally dry off, which in turn encourages the plants to produce more roots. In this way a healthy, strong root structure will result.

Dimensions – each cell is approx. 1½ inches (4cm) square x 4¾ inches (12cm) high. They are supplied as sets of four cells joined together (these strips cannot be cut into individual cells but should be used as a strip, making four individual cells in which plants can grow).

Years of use - made from 100% recycled plastic, these cells have been injection moulded, so they are sturdy enough to use year after year – you can even put them in your dishwasher to clean and sterilise them (dishwasher proof up to 50 degrees Celsius).
