Each Maze Wormery includes the following components:
Base – with an open drain to allow liquid ‘worm tea’ to reach the liquid collection tray which slides into the lowest part of the base. The Worm Saver Tray also slides into the base unit.
Worm Saver Tray – designed to prevent the worms falling through to the bottom of the housing, away from the food waste they live on. This tray easily slides to rest underneath the base section of the wormery.
Liquid Collection Tray – this wormery is designed to be free draining to eliminate the risk of the liquid building up and potentially drowning your worms. This is why at the very bottom of the base unit this two litre capacity watertight tray is fitted. It securely collects the ‘worm tea’ generated as the worms work their way through your organic waste. This worm tea is a nutrient rich liquid fertiliser that is so concentrated that you should dilute it 1 part tea to 9 parts water to be then used to feed your plants.
Two Rotatable Working Trays – these make up the main body of the wormery and form the place where the worms live and you add organic waste for them to feed on. When you first start using the wormery you use one tray until it’s full and then add the second tray. Once you have the wormery up and running, as the second tray fills to capacity, the first tray will be full of worm casting ready to be used in your garden to enrich your soil.
Lid – designed to securely fir at the top of the wormery, this lid can be easily removed to allow you to add in your kitchen waste. The waste which you can add to this wormer include : fruit and vegetable scraps, teabags, coffee grounds, crushed eggshells, small amounts of bread, cooked rice or pasta, moist cardboard and newspaper. Things that can’t be added to the wormery include: onion, garlic, chilli, dairy products, uncooked potato skins, citrus fruit or peel, meat, bones or fish, oils or grease.
Coconut Peat – this block of peat becomes the bedding for the worms. When setting up your wormery soak the peat block in third full bucket of water. Once all the water has been absorbed check that the peat is not too dry or too wet – it should feel moist, with minimal water dripping out when you squeeze it.
Optional Worms – you will need approx. 500g of composting worms to live in your Maze Wormery. We give you the option to purchase with or without worms, in-case you are upgrading from an older wormery and already have the worms.
Despatched Direct From The Manufacturer :
