These large aluminium garden hoops create a simple tunnel frame for covering vegetables, herbs and flowers. When used with netting, fleece or polythene, the hoops form a curved structure that helps manage pests, wildlife and changing weather conditions while crops grow.
Large Aluminium Garden Hoop Dimensions
Once installed, each hoop forms a tunnel approximately 1.55m wide and 0.8m high. To cover the frame properly, a material width of at least 2.4m is recommended. Strong clips are included to keep the cover attached to the hoops.
Before installation the hoop measures roughly 0.92m high. Around 12cm is designed to be pushed into the soil so the frame sits securely once positioned in the ground.

The aluminium hoops create a lightweight but sturdy tunnel structure that can be used in vegetable beds, garden rows and growing areas. Once assembled, the frame holds netting or fleece evenly across the hoops and helps keep the tunnel shape throughout the season.
Different cover materials can be used depending on your growing needs:
- Bird netting to help keep birds away while allowing sunlight through
- Insect mesh to help reduce pests such as aphids and carrot fly
- Ultra fine insect mesh for protection against smaller insects
- Butterfly netting to limit damage from cabbage white butterflies
- Garden fleece to help plants during cooler conditions while allowing airflow
- Polythene covers to create a warmer growing environment similar to a small greenhouse
For best results, position each hoop roughly one metre apart along the bed to maintain even support for the covering material.
If replacement or additional covers are required, choose netting or fleece that is at least 2.4m wide. Allow an extra 1.7m of length so the ends of the tunnel can be fully covered.
