Description

These pet-friendly slug pellets effectively stop slugs from feeding on fruit, vegetables, and flowers, both in garden soil and under glass (e.g., Hostas, bedding plants, strawberries, lettuce, and cabbages).

What Are These Organic Slug Pellets Made From?

These slug and snail pellets are blue in colour and contain Ferric phosphate, a naturally occurring active ingredient.

The pellets contain 10g/kg hydrated ferric phosphate (technical), with at least 7.02g/kg anhydrous ferric phosphate in a granular bait (ready-to-use) formulation.

How Do Natural Slug Pellets Work?

These pellets control slugs that feed on the soil surface. However, they may not significantly reduce slug numbers for crops planted below the soil, such as potatoes and carrots, or for tall plants like flowers, currants, or brussels sprouts.

Slugs are attracted to moist pellets. In humid conditions or on moist soil, the pellets absorb water and swell. This draws the slugs to consume the pellets, after which they stop feeding and retreat to a secluded location to die.

Approved for organic gardening, these pellets biodegrade and break down into iron and phosphate, enriching the soil and providing nutrients to plants.

Are the Slug Pellets Safe for Wildlife and Pets?

Ferric phosphate is non-toxic to birds, bees, and other beneficial insects. The pellets are also safe for pets.

When Is the Best Time to Use Slug Pellets?

Apply the pellets at the first sign of plant damage, ideally in the late evening or early morning when slugs are most active.

How to Use Slug Pellets

Evenly scatter the pellets around all edible and non-edible plants. Use 5g per square metre. Repeat the treatment as necessary, up to a maximum of four treatments per crop.

When protecting edible crops, ensure pellets do not get trapped in the leaves.

This product is intended for use as an amateur slug killer.
