Moisture range – 1 to 10, 1 to 3 = dry, 4 to 7 = normal, 8 to 10 = wet
The moisture level of your soil affects the growth of your plants, in fact for many plants too much water is as detrimental as too little. If the soil is to wet your plants will drown as when there is too much water in the soil there are not enough air pockets, which limits the amount of oxygen to your plants that they need to remain healthy.

pH range – 3.5 to 8, 3.5 to 6.5 = acidic, 7 to 8 = alkaline
pH is important to gardeners as it affects nutrients are available naturally to your plants in the soil. At a pH of 6.5 the highest number of nutrients are available to your plants, so at your allotment you would usually aim to have a pH of around 6.5.

Relative light range – 0 to 2000 Lux, 0 to 500 = low, 500 to 1000 = normal, 1000 to 2000 = high
Lux are the units used to measure light intensity. Lux is equal to one lumen per square meter.
200 to 500 lux is a low light intensity / almost deep shade / not suitable for most plants.
500 to 1000 lux is still a low light intensity, but you could read in this level of light and it represents the natural light in a room in your house. This light intensity suits shade loving plants.
1000 to 2000 lux is bright, and indirect light powerful enough to create a shadow. This suits plants which like indirect sunlight.
Above 2000 lux Is considered bright lights and is ideal for plants which grow best in good, consistent light intensity.
