Elite Greenhouses ... manufacturing greenhouses since 1953
Established in 1953, Elite Greenhouses Limited are proud to say that they still remain, over 68 years later, a privately owned, family-run business now with the third generation of the family in charge. Elite Greenhouses . . . an intrinsic knowledge of greenhouses
Pushing the boundaries of the domestic greenhouse market in the UK Elite offers gardeners the results of their experience by producing products which are built upon strength, durability and competitive prices whilst at the same time they offer one of the broadest ranges of greenhouses in the UK.
Here are just some of the benefits you will benefit from when choosing an Elite greenhouse.
British Design And Manufacture
In a world where importing products from abroad is big business, it’s nice to be able to buy a greenhouse that has been designed and manufactured within the UK. For your peace of mind and a testament to their quality Elite ensures all of the components used in building their greenhouses conform to British Standards.
Superior Bar Thickness
Elite have ensured their greenhouses have superior strength by only using the best materials and thick aluminium glazing bars which not only result in a strong greenhouse structure, it also enables you to fix shelving and staging to the walls of the greenhouse without having to worry about the extra weight being applied to your greenhouse when these are covered with plants.
Powder-Coated Frames For Maximum Choice Elite has been selling greenhouses in an alloy finish since the day they started manufacturing greenhouses and will continue to do so. However, for those gardeners who would prefer their greenhouse to become more of a feature in their garden or outdoor space, Elite also offers greenhouses in a range of eleven colourways. |

|
This colour is achieved using a process called ‘powder coating’ which creates a high-class finish to the frame, is resistant to corrosion and UV degradation and will look great for more than 25 years. For a colour-coordinated look, you can also purchase Elites diamond staging and shelving with the same powder-coated finish. |
High Tensile Bolts As Standard
Elite’s bolts have been scientifically tested to be 2½ times stronger than standard aluminium bolts. As a result, they will not shear and will continue to maintain the strength of your greenhouse throughout its lifetime.
Stainless Steel Glazing Clips Using clips made from stainless steel to hold the glazing in place means they will not rust, warp or rot, so will hold the glazing securely in place for years to come. Coupled with these, Elite use Neoprene Beading to cushion the glass glazing against the frame providing a snug fit and greater resistance to wind. |

Greenhouse Glazing Options
Elite offers a choice of three types of glazing with most of their greenhouse models (check individual models to confirm) enabling you to choose the one best suited to your budget and needs.
Horticultural glass is the most economical glazing. Elite use 3mm thick horticultural glass which is provided in panes which will need to be overlapped when the glass is fixed to the greenhouse frame. There are a couple of disadvantages to horticultural glass. If it is broken the glass could break into large shards which can be dangerous. Also, where the glass overlaps, over time there is the possibility of algae or moss forming which you should remove every time you clean your greenhouse.
You can overcome these disadvantages by upgrading to toughened safety glass. Elite uses Grade A toughened safety glass to Standard EN12150.
|
Supplied primarily in full-length sheets this results in a neater finish when glazing your greenhouse (especially if you choose to add bar capping) and by removing the overlapping panes algae and moss should not be a problem. Toughened glass is recommended if you have pets, young children, or live in an urban area purely because in the event of a breakage, the glass granulates and therefore removes any danger of injury. |
If you don’t want to have a greenhouse which is glazed with glass, Elite offer a third type of glazing as an alternative to glass, which is polycarbonate safety glazing. Elite use a 6mm thick, twin wall polycarbonate which is UVI treated, and like the toughened safety glazing, it comes in full sheets and is a great option where children or pets are concerned. Being twin walls also makes this glazing good at retaining heat, helping to reduce heating costs during the colder months by letting less heat from the greenhouse than a standard glass glazing would allow.
Longer Lengths Available
When deciding on the width and length of the greenhouse you can accommodate using the width to determine which models will suit. The width of free-standing greenhouses is the side which will feature the greenhouse door/doors. However, when it comes to the length Elite can manufacture and the length of the greenhouse, based on nominal 2ft increments. So, when you check the sizes on the website, these are simply the more popular lengths – for longer lengths simply ask us for a price.
Elite Greenhouses . . . Manufactured By Elite And Delivered By Elite
Elites take as much care delivering their greenhouses as they take in manufacturing them. To ensure delivery is as good as possible they have their own fleet of vehicles and drivers who will deliver their greenhouses directly to your door. This is not the case for customers based in Ireland, some parts of Scotland and other offshore locations – but we can check this if you have any concerns when placing an order. |
