Kits are based on 6ft (183cm) spans (i.e. an upright at every 6ft (183cm) within the fruit cage) which gives an extremely stable structure.
Each kit is supplied with everything you'll need to complete the fruit cage, as follows:
Framework:
7ft (213cm) legs - rot proof 3/4" (19mm) diameter aluminium tubing which has a strong 0.9mm thick wall, supplied 7ft (213cm) long allowing 12" (30.5cm) to be sunk into the ground to provide firm anchorage.
6ft (183cm) horizontals - the same specification as the legs, used to form the horizontals at the top of the cage.
Joints - strong black UV stabilised joints which are a friction fit within the aluminium tubing.
Fruit cage netting - 3/4" (2cm) square mesh 6'6" (2 metres) wide, anti bird netting used to cover the sides & top of the fruit cage.
Netting ties - wrap the net over the horizontal poles and secure using the netting ties, keeping the net tensioned to avoid 'sagging' between ties that can allow birds in.
Ground pegs - to anchor the bottom edge of the netting to the ground.
PLEASE NOTE: The image shows a fruit cage together with door and frame braces. The door and braces are optional extras and are available to purchase separately.

Anyone who grows fruit and veg at home knows that certain crops simply can’t be raised successfully without some form of crop protection. Of course many things are suggested for keeping birds and other pests at bay, such as old CD’s and polythene bags hung among the plants.
However, although these things may work initially, birds soon learn to ignore them and of course they have no effect at all on insect pests. As far as birds are concerned, nothing works as well as covering the crop completely with a good quality fruit cage. A fruit cage or on a smaller area, a netting clad cloche, is ideal for protecting your cabbages and lettuces from marauding pigeons, and means that you have complete peace of mind, no matter how many hungry birds circle your garden.
