Heater Thermostat

A heater thermostat is a device that controls the temperature of the atmosphere in your greenhouse or polytunnel. When using a thermostat to control a heater it works by sensing the temperature changes and then acting as a 'switch', turning heaters off and on as required. Very accurate thermostatic control is possible and easy with most thermostats having a graduated dial allowing you to set the required temperature which the thermostat will then aim to maintain. A thermostat will only work effectively if it is connected to a heater that has sufficient capacity to reach the temperature you require and without having to run constantly. For accurate temperature sensing you should place the sensor of the thermostat away from draughts and cold spots as this would provide a false reading.
