Polytunnel Spares

Polytunnel Spares enable you to keep your polytunnel in tip top condition.
Polytunnel Covers have a life expectancy of approx 5 years - so we stock both clear and opaque heavy gauge polythene enabling you to replace the cover when needed.
When you replace the tunnel cover you should use Anti-hot Spot Tape. This tape is placed over the hoops of the tunnel frame before fitting the cover. The smooth surface of the tape makes it possible for the cover to glide over the frame - preventing any snagging as you get the cover in place. More importantly Anti-hot Spot Tape will extend the life of the cover by approx. 1 year as it provides an insulating layer between the frame and polythene preventing hot spots, which cause the cover to stretch & weaken.
If your polythene cover is damaged, it's useful to have a roll of All Weather Tape with which to repair it. All Weather Tape is excellent for repairing tears - it's clear so allows light transmission and it's UV stabilised making it resistant to weathering.

Clear Tunnel Greenhouse Polythene
This Clear Polythene is used to cover polytunnels and provides excellent clarity and transmits 92% of the light crops use to grow and develop. In the uk where light levels can be lower, this clear polythene allows more light to enter which in turn can result in crops being ready to pick earlier. In addition to its temperature control properties, this clear polythene manipulates the type and level of light entering the polytunnel to significantly improve crop hardiness, colour, taste and shelf life. A polytunnel covered with this clear polythene should be ideal for raising bedding plants, as well as nursery and salad crops.
Opaque Tunnel Greenhouse Polythene
This Opaque White Polythene is a thermic film developed to help keep the growing environment warmer by reducing the heat lost through long wavelength infra-red radiation. This benefits your plants as higher overnight temperatures encourage plant growth, can reduce plant losses and allow savings to be made when heating the area. This polythene is ideal for crops that require shade and cooler daytime temperatures such as nursery stock, ferns and conifers. It's also good is you use your poly tunnel to mainly overwinter hardy shrubs or for general hardening off. You'll also find this type of covering used in general live stock housing and also general storage.
Rainwater Gutters for Polytunnels
Save water with our quick and easy to use gutter system. These polytunnel gutters simply stick to the side of your polythene tunnel and when it rains the water will be collected and diverted into your water butt.

Anti-Hot Spot Tape
Anti-Hot Spot Tape is long lasting, self-adhesive foam tape which is applied to tunnel hoops before covering. It provides an insulating layer between the steel and polythene preventing hot spots, which cause the cover to stretch and weaken.
