Armillatox In The Greenhouse Cleanliness in the greenhouse is of prime importance – a fungal or insect infection can destroy many hours of hard work, and once established can be difficult to remove. With regular and varied use of Armillatox many of these problems can be overcome. Starts with a clean environment – at least twice a year wash your greenhouse with a 100:1 solution – to remove algae and to kill dormant spores and eggs. Wash all equipment including pots and seed trays with the same solution. There are two main ways in which ‘nasties’ can be introduced into the greenhouse: Through the water supply – treat water held in tanks or water butts in a ratio of 4000:1 (50ml of Armillatox for a 40 gallon water butt). Tap water is more difficult to treat, but regular applications of 2000:1 will help keep capillary matting, aggregates (such as sand and gravel) and other exposed areas clear of algae. etc. Through peat-based composts – drench with a 100:1 solution. Disease can also be brought into the greenhouse on new plants purchased from garden centres or given to you by friends. Soaking the compost in which suspect plants are growing with a 1000:1 solution will kill off any eggs or spores. Although Armillatox will not kill living flying or crawling insects regular spraying will kill the eggs laid by them gradually reducing an infestation. Use a 4000:1 solution and spray either early in the morning or in the evening (i.e. avoid spraying in the heat of the day – evaporation will concentrate the solution and may cause damage to plants).
