How do I ascertain the size of my outside tap?
If you don’t know the size of your outside tap measure the EXTERNAL diameter of the tap and subtract ¼".
For example, if the diameter is ¾", the tap size will be ½".

What do I need to buy to join two pieces of hosepipe together?
The hose connector you choose to join two pieces of hosepipe together will depend on size of the hosepipe.

½" Hosepipe
The cheapest way to join two lengths of hose together is to use a barbed fitting, for example our ½" Straight Connector. Simply ‘push’ the hosepipe securely over the barbs on either side of the connector. This type of connector is best used when you want a permanent fitting.
A more versatile method for joining two pieces of hosepipe is to use snap-on connectors on the hosepipe and a ½" to ½" Straight Hose Coupling between the two connectors. You can purchase either a standard Snap-On Hose Connector for either piece of hosepipe. Or, if you think you’ll need to disconnect the two pieces of hosepipe fairly regularly purchase the two Snap-On Water Stops. These enable you to remove the connector from the hose coupling without needing to turn the water off with a valve within the connector stops the flow of water.

¾" Hosepipe
For a permanent join between two pieces of ¾" hosepipe purchase a ¾" Straight Joint. By combining this barbed joint with the ¾" Hose Clips you will create a secure join easily and cheaply.
If you want to be able to disconnect the two pieces of hose quickly and easily you can join ¾" hosepipe by purchasing two ¾" Snap-On Hose Connectors and one ½" to ½" Hose Coupling. This may sound as if it won’t work, but the design of the snap-on hose connector enables ¾" hosepipe to be joined to any ½" hose couplings or watering appliances.
