Add a nest box to your garden and you will be able to encourage many types of garden birds to raise a family. Birds will be looking for a place to nest from February time onwards – in fact National Next Box Week is launched by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) on Valentine’s Day 14th February. We are encouraged to site nest boxes within our gardens to help protect wild birds, and with many natural nesting places disappearing as hedges and woods are trimmed and cleared it becomes increasingly important for us to provide a place for birds to nest. There are basically three types of nest box to choose from – each type is designed to attract a different group of birds.
