Pruning saws will cut through much thicker branches – in some cases up to 25 inches in diameter – so when you’re doing some serious pruning in your garden then using a saw will be much more effective than any other tool. Saws with curved blades are popular as the teeth on the blades will be angled backwards, cutting when you pull down on the saw. This makes them good to use when you’re working to cut through branches overhead. For cutting through very thick wood then a bow saw is the best option. Bow saws will have a thinner blade under higher pressure than on a pruning saw, so you’ll be able to cut through large branches faster.
