Water Butt Drip System

WATER LARGE AREAS WITHOUT MAINS WATER

A Ideal for using water from a water butt or tank, this Water Butt Drip System will carry water to your plants easily and efficiently. It’s one of the simplest systems to install. The pipe is supplied with drippers already fitted – all you need to do is lay it directly on the ground or below mulch.

To Start The System

There are two ways in which you can start the Water Butt Drip System – you can control the system automatically or manually.

timer for water butt drip system   To automatically control the system you’ll need:
  • A piece of ½” (13mm) hosepipe which can be pushed onto the tap of the water butt
  • A Snap-On Connector which you fit to the other end of the hosepipe
  • A Plastic Adaptor which screws onto the top of the Water Timer and joins to the Snap-On Connector
  • A Low Pressure Water Timer which you can programme to turn the water off and on automatically, this has an inbuilt filter within it so you WON’T need to purchase the Water Butt Inline Filter
  • Another Snap-On Connector to fit on the base of the Water Timer
  • Another length of ½” hose which fits to the Snap-On Connector and runs to the point where you want to start watering
  • A ½” to 7mm Reducer which pushes onto the end of the ½” hosepipe and on the opposite side the 7mm Pipe is fitted.

Cick on the products above for full details of each item.

To manually control the system use the following:

  • A piece of ½” hosepipe which can be pushed into the tap of the water butt
  • A ½” Inline Filter is then pushed onto the end of the hosepipe
  • Another piece of ½” hose which fits onto the opposite end of the filter and runs up to the point where you want to start watering
  • A ½” to 7mm Reducer which pushes onto the end of the ½” hosepipe and on the opposite side the 7mm Pipe is fitted.

TOP TIP
If you want to use this drip system from a tank rather than a water butt, you’ll need a Tank Connector to fit into the tank and be able to accept the 7mm Pipe.

To Carry Water Around.

  • Use ½” hosepipe to carry the water from the water butt to the point at which you wish to start watering. At this point fit a ½” to 7mm Reducer, then push the 7mm Pipe onto the reducer.
  • The 7mm Pipe is brown in colour and has drippers already inserted every 12” / 30cm – these drippers are on the inside of the pipe so all you see on the outside is a small hole.
Cick here for full details of the 7mm Pipe.

To Direct Water To Your Plants

Use these 7mm connectors for branching and routing the tube. They are designed to simply push into the 7mm pipe to create a secure connection.
